The nickel-covered Phat Cat P-90 Set from Seymour Duncan is a pair of P-90 style pickups for neck and bridge designed as a drop-in replacement for any standard humbucker-sized slot. The pickups were originally developed for Hamer Guitars as a true single-coil P-90 soapbar that fits under a humbucker cover. The bridge pickup offers authentic P-90 grit and growl with bright, harmonically rich overtones, and sharp P-90 cut and edge. The neck pickup offers authentic bounce and sparkle with rich harmonic overtones, and single-coil springiness for solos. It is reverse-wind/reverse-polarity (RW/RP) for noise-free operation when used together with the bridge pickup. The metal covers provide additional shielding and noise reduction when compared to standard soapbar covers. Both pickups utilize two alnico 2 bar magnets for more sustain and a softer attack. The pickups also features a nickel-silver bottom plate, single-conductor braided lead wires, and are vacuum wax potted for squeal-free operation. The Phat Cat set is carefully hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA.
